Long-distance move from Tucker, GA to Orlando, FL

Deception and Deceit.

Maybe posting this review will prompt an individual from this company to contact me. I have emailed Lilly and texted Dave. A phone call to the office results in an opportunity to press 1 or 2 for assistance, but the voice message just keeps repeating. A click on the website address results in nothing. The move was just beyond a nightmare. Price was double estimate, and although assured they had additional trucks and men available with just a phone call, that was a lie. I rented an additional truck myself on the day of moving, loaded it with three friends to complete the job on time. The free storage offer resulted in demand for additional fees. I wish I didn’t accept the offer because wherever my belongings were stored, they arrived wrapped in the moving blankets supplied by Hometown Van lines filled with rat feces and cockroach eggs. My brand new sofa is missing the back cushions which makes it unusable. All the boxes have urine stains on them. Don’t worry, I have the rat feces documented, a complete trail of documentation and black light evidence.

Official company response

Ms Scott,
Your move has taken place back in Feb 2020. We have read over your review and are not condoning the work of Hometown Van Lines whatsoever. Although, we have carefully vetted this company prior to your move, and have recommended them several times to previous customers, we have never had an issue like this with their company. Since your move, we have formally placed the motor carrier on a probation period for which was shortly followed by a termination of their company as a recommended motor carrier in our network. We do apologize for any inconvenience caused by the motor carrier.
After careful review of your file, it appears you spoke with a former customer service representative, Marrissa during your pickup. She documented that your shipment was far exceeding the estimated CF and you were requiring a 2nd truck to move the remaining items that did not fit on the first truck. When you reached out to our customer service department in March to discuss your discrepancies Lily received the paperwork and noticed Hometown Van Lines was in violation of binding estimate terms and conditions. We have documentation to prove our efforts in demanding the motor carrier to amend the revisions to reflect the correct charges. Unfortunately, we can not force the MC to do anything, but we can do our best to ensure they comply with DOT & FMCSA regulations. After much demanding and arguing with Hometown Van Lines they assured us that they would be making the proper adjustments to your final bill which you have also confirmed they did so. Unfortunately, Route 66 has fallen a victim of COVID-19 which has forced us to close our doors for good. We are no longer operating as a long distance moving brokerage and our website and telephone numbers are no longer in use. If you should need anything, please send an email to info@route66relocationgroup.com and we will try to direct you to the motor carrier who serviced your move for assistance with any claims for damaged or missing items. Although, you have been provided with the movers contact information prior to pickup. If you have the information, you must contact them directly as they are responsible for any damaged items. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience and we wish you well in your new location. Thank you.

Nothing but Lies and Broken Furniture!

Complaint Details
I originally received a quote for approximately $2,600 dollars to move my stuff from Florida to Houston. When we went back over the quote with Sebastian before the pickup there was a few things that were missed and needed to be added so the total went to $3,600 part of missing items were things I missed so no big deal on the price increase. While on the phone with Sebastian I told him on several occasions my furniture is large so he ended up having me measure EVERY DRESSER, THE SAFE, THE ENTERTAINMENT CENTER (the big items) that made the total go up because Chloe (first rep) did not have large enough items put in. So again, I was ok with the increased amount of 3,600. Since I measured everything I asked Sebastian more than once because I wanted no surprises "So if the movers pack the truck badly and you quoted us for 900 plus cubic feet and due to them packing it badly its now 1200 cubic feet will my price go up?" His response MORE THAN ONCE WAS -"NO this is a legal and BINDING quote the only way it can change is if you add more items". Not only did I add NOTHING I actually had LESS boxes than I was quoted for. But the movers said it was over 1500 cubic feet and the price was now over $5,200. Of course you don't get that total until they have loaded everything and your valuables are held hostage on their trucks! Oh wait it gets MUCH BETTER.. Once I received my items my very expensive entertainment center was busted up and not usable (8,000), my executive desk has the sides dislocated so it wobbles and leans, my sofa table, coffee table and end table were all ruined by their blankets discoloring them and the glass being broken. The leg was broken off of my large dresser and all of the parts for my large curio cabinet is missing so I cannot put any of the glass shelves in it. Lastly, I was charged for these WONDERFUL tv boxes Sebastian went on and on about.. ok there were no boxes. My tv's got a cover taped over them. Needless to say my 60" tv got destroyed! Nothing but a HUGE PACK OF LIES FROM THE START. And oh yeah, when we called about the charges going from 3,600 to over 5,200 we were told by Lily she would call us back. Still waiting and it's been weeks.. I'm going to go to the Interstate Commerce Division as well as the Florida Attorney General and file complaints on their less then scrupulous business practices. I'm also have an appointment with my lawyer to see what recourse I have. I'm more than just a little livid that I paid over 5,200 for 6 large pieces of furniture that was DESTROYED and the lies they told me are unacceptable.

Official company response

Tara,

We are displeased to hear that you have had a negative experience with the carrier who serviced your move. I feel that there are some untrue statements made. Please allow me to clarify.
During your original booking with our representative it shows you agreed to an estimated total moving cost of $3142.17, not the $2600 you mentioned. This price was based off an itemized inventory of 35 items. Each booking representative informs our customers to look over the inventory before confirming the estimate is correct in order to avoid dramatic increases in price or size. Please keep in mind, we can only provide an accurate estimate if the customer provides a completely honest and accurate inventory to us. Unfortunately, some customers go through their items between the day of booking and the day of the actual move. Most of them either throw items away, or realize they have more than anticipated. For this reason, we participate in quality assurance reviews which take place around 72 hours prior to the pickup date. During your quality assurance review the price increased to $3547.87 based off an itemized inventory of 43 items. For the increase in items/size your estimated cost increased based off your binding rate of $3.57 per cf.
Upon pickup, Lily spoke with the customers on scene as well as the dispatcher and foreman for the moving company. Lily documented that they provided you with a revised written estimate of approximately 1300 cf and $100 for additional packing materials. She explained to you how the revised estimate works for which if you did not utilize that amount of space then you shall not be charged for it. You and your husband agreed to the revised written estimate and understood. The carrier then began the moving services for which proves you were not subject to a hostage situation. In order to determine the FINAL charges the carrier must load the truck after the revised estimate is provided. Once all items are loaded and services have been completed, the carrier will be able to calculate the actual amount of space utilized and actual amount of packing materials used for which your price was adjusted accordingly. Our customer service staff offered to provide a different carrier multiple times and you refused as you wanted to proceed with the movers that arrived.
Based off our notes it shows that you were in contact with Lily and Marrissa regarding the concerns you mentioned. The last note in our system shows a picture of the truck being almost fully loaded and that Lily mentioned if you had any further concerns to reach back out to her. We were unaware of any damaged goods as we have not heard from you since the day of pickup. We will be happy to provide claims information for the carrier who serviced your move. If there should be any further questions or concerns that you may have, please feel free to reach out to our customer service department.

Best Regards.

Great job ?

I've moved over 10 times in my life time. I've been working as a sales manager for a large tech company for about 11 of those years and part of the job description involves moving around training sales crews.

I've moved using Mayflower, Allied, Bekins, and a couple of other smaller companies with many good experiences. Unfortunately I've had some bad experiences like my price increasing or the movers never showing up and huge lack of communication. Because of this I started doing extensive research on any company I considered. The company I work for asks me to find the company and pay for the move then they recompensate me after I get all the receipts.

This time around I was moving from Kansas City, MO to Brooklyn, NY. I started out by calling Mayflower and had them send out a rep and look at my stuff physically. Got their quote at which point I submitted a quote request online and braced myself for all the calls. I usually just listen to the voicemails they leave me a choose a couple to call back. One of the companies I called back was Route 66. I got connected to Chloe who introduced me to the company, went through my inventory, sent me a quote AND her credentials (this is a first, no company I've ever worked with actually sent me their credentials). I told her I'd call her back after doing my own research and she was kind and patient with me, didn't try to pressure me to doing it right there and then.

I pull up their reviews, doing my own research. A lot of good reviews and some bad ones about their price increasing. Route 66 had replied to all of these and said the client had failed to mention many things coming along thus the price increased. I can understand this because if you lie about what you're bringing the movers will charge you, it's common sense. I dismissed many of the bad reviews.

I call Chloe back and make the down payment of $2328 with an electronic check. My move was scheduled for two days later (they had me include a back up date as well). I crossed my fingers and hoped I made the right choice.

3 Movers show up on the day I scheduled in a budget rental truck (this is very common so I was not surprised). They walk around my house and tell me I did an accurate over the phone assessment, nothing was missing except a couple of extra boxes. They told me my price would stay exactly the same, I signed off the paperwork and paid them half the remaining balance they give me a receipt of course.

They do their thing; wrap up all my furniture, take apart my bedroom sets, box my TVs. Took care of everything for me and they did an excellent job. Only thing I didn't like is that they took a smoke break outside every half hour, no biggie though. They leave after loading everything up.

Took them 6 days to get to Virginia. They call me a day before delivery and inform me their coming. On delivery, 3 movers show up, I paid them the remaining balance they unload everything and setup all my furniture where I want it. Tipped each mover $50.

I'm writing this review 2 days later and everything was delivered in great condition, nothing missing out of the boxes, TVs is good condition. Overall I'm super satisfied with this company. They did what they said they would, they did not increase my price and I saved a bunch of money using them instead of Mayflower. Great experience overall. I'm using them again as my go to for my next move.

No Stars.

This company is a joke. I trusted them to provide safe and reliable movers to take care of my property. My things were held hostage by the company, Green Peace Transportation, that they contracted to do my move, and delivered 10 days late with almost $2000 worth of damage done. Some of my things were reduced to rubble and the claims company they sent me to is rated a C- by the BBB. They wasted 6 months of my time & had the gall to offer me $50 for my claim. I try to contact Green Peace Transportation and they have gone out of business. Surprise! So I call Route 66 Relocation and they tell me that they have nothing to do with any of it & they aren't responsible for any of the damage done to my property. Not a nice way to treat a customer!

Long-distance move from Burlington, KY to Murfreesboro, TN

Justin Spencer.

I am in the process of moving from Kentucky to Tennessee. Less than 300 miles. I researched moving companies and I started getting calls from various relocation companies when I filled out information on the internet. Route 66 relocation called me and I spoke to Grant Kennedy. Went through an itemized list of my belongings and he gave me a quote. I received a few other quotes from other companies as well. I decided to go with Route 66 based on a price of $5k. We were selling our house, 3 days prior to the scheduled move I get a follow up call from Sebastian from Route 66, went through the itemized list again, we took some items off that we had sold and added a few items, nothing big. The price jumped to over $9k! I asked to speak with the manager and they put me through to Joe..after speaking with him for over an hour the price came back down to $7100 due to the additional cube space I would need. I was also told that the moving company that Route 66 brokered to move me was Boost Express Van Lines. On the scheduled day of the move Boost was scheduled to arrive between 11 am and 2 pm. They kept calling and saying it would be later. They eventually showed up at 9:30 PM. Didn’t do much of anything that night as we have 3 small children that were already asleep. We had to be out the next day on Wednesday October 9th as the walkthrough for the home was scheduled for that day. So day 1 wasted. Day 2 they walked through the house and said it would be 2500 cubic feet and raised the price to over $10k! We had reserved a 2600 cubic foot truck for $7100. I called Route 66 and asked to speak to Joe..ironically I could not speak to him..I was told it was a Jewish Holiday and Joe was Jewish and couldn’t speak on the phone. They gave me to Lilly who I started to work with. During the move the movers also stole food and drinks out of our fridge and when my wife questioned them they told her “normally people provide food so we took what we wanted”. They also left all our belongings beside the highway and went for coffee for 2 hours. My wife sat outside by our belongings and watched it so no one would steal anything. When they finally returned everything did not fit into the truck even though they went through the house and itemized everything. They did a terrible job of packing and loading. They told my wife that they would have to come back in the morning at 8 am with a bigger truck and finish. I was already in Tennessee working and my wife and children to not plan on staying that night because the movers showed up a day late. They all had to sleep on the floor that night as everything was packed. The next morning they did not arrive at 8..called and called and finally they show up at 1pm with the same truck! They said hey had unloaded some of our items to make room for what was left in a storage unit? Anyway through this whole process I have tried to speak with the supervisor Joe at Route 66 and was told that he had a family emergency for 3 days, then I called again on Tuesday October 15th and apparently it’s another Jewish Holiday! I also called Boost to see what time they would be arriving with our belongings on the scheduled delivery day October 21st which is what the contract stated and was told there is no estimated delivery date at this point. We are staying in a hotel in Tennessee and it’s costing me additional money. The people at Route 66 do not care about you. They give you the run around and refuse to hold up their end of the bargain. DO NOT do business with Route 66 located in Jamaica New York! I have tried to call Lilly Cohen back for 3 days also and every time she is busy and on the other line and will not speak to me or call me back. Do yourself a favor and pay someone local to move you. Do not go with a company you find online.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $10300

Official company response

Mr Spencer,
We have received your review and read over your concerns. We have also made you aware that we have been diligently working with the carrier to ensure a price adjustment is made to your final cost.
During the quality assurance review with Sebastian it shows that your original estimate of $5k was based off 1467 cf. When items were subtracted and added the estimated cf came to 2056 cf. Causing the price to increase. In order to accommodate to last minute adjustments an additional fee may have been required (this also increasing the total estimated price). It shows that our company reduced the cost back down to the $7k by actually covering most of the fee for you in order to keep your business. Joe then made special arrangements in order to protect you as a consumer for any possible increase upon pickup.
Upon pickup, I spoke with your wife who I assisted in keeping calm and informed her I would do everything I can in order to minimize the cost as much as possible.
Unfortunately, Joe was unable to assist you throughout the pickup process as he is a quality assurance manager and he is unable to assist the customer with a situation after the time of pickup. Joe was also celebrating the Jewish holidays, Yom Kippur & Sukkot on the days that you requested to speak with him. These are holidays for which using a phone is forbidden.
We are sorry to hear that you have had a negative experience, however we feel that most of your complaints are towards the carrier who serviced your move and not our company. Since the day of pickup, we've been in contact with the carrier demanding the price to be deducted. We've also informed you of the estimated delivery window and how your first available delivery date was Oct 21st for which is not a guaranteed delivery date but the carrier is working to have the shipment delivered as close to that date as possible.
We feel this review is untrue as we have been doing everything we can do to ensure customer satisfaction. We will continue to assist you throughout this process. I know you've been in contact with Lily via email. Please feel free to reach out to her if you have any further questions.
Best Regards.

Long-distance move from Santa Fe, NM to Boston, MA

BBB review rating is F, and that says it all!

The BBB review rating for this company is the worst possible which speaks for itself: https://www.bbb.org/us/ny/jamaica/profile/moving-brokers/state-to-state-moving-group-llc-0121-182966/overview-of-bbb-ratings

From my experience, this company is a scam, and they use unfair practices such as unreasonable ramping up of prices. It has been over 60 days and they gave me one day's notice about delivery as I was out of town after I was told on the 24th of October that my items should arrive in approximately 5 days. 10 days later (which by no standard is approximately 5) they call me and say that if they have to re-deliver I will have to pay more. This is after they started with a $2600 estimate that went up to $3600 3 days before pick up (that was 1 day late).

Their customer service is ridiculous and rude (they always say one thing: we have tried our best to help when in reality they do nothing). They were never able to even tell me the exact location of my items at any given time. And now, they say they don't have a re-delivery time specified and that is not how a business should operate.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4200

Official company response

Anna,

We appreciate your feedback whether it is good or bad. We are sorry to hear that you have had a bad experience with the recommended carrier.

The statement you've made regarding who collected your items is false, our company was never in possession of your items as we are the brokerage that you've hired to coordinate your move. We feel that most of your concerns are towards the carrier that serviced your move, not towards our company.

Based off of my notes, the original estimate states 344 cf for 32 items. However, 3 days prior to your first preferred pick up date of September 2nd you had spoke with Sebastian to go over your inventory to make sure everything listed was accurate. During the Quality Assurance call you increased your cubic footage to 415 cf for 43 items, which is the estimate that you have elected for $3420.48. The way a binding estimate works is if you should add items causes the cubic feet to increase which would also cause the price to increase.

We had discussed your concerns with the carrier and requested for them to offer you a discount for the inconvenience of the delayed pick up for which they have agreed to and provided.

Also, based off of our phone calls with you, we have informed you that your shipment was located in the carrier's storage facility since you could not receive your shipment until September 23rd as requested. We have been diligently doing everything we can in order to satisfy you as our customer and pushing the carrier to deliver your shipment as soon as possible.

Once we had received confirmation from the carrier that your shipment was in transit and the next call that you would be waiting for was from the driver as they get closer to your drop off location to schedule and arrange a more accurate ETA, we notified you right away.

We believe the last statement that you have made is also false, according to the text messages between you and Marrissa it states that the carrier MAY charge for a re-delivery fee. Per FMCSA consumer rights and responsibilities and the contract that you've elected with the carrier it is the customers responsibility to be available anytime after the First Available Delivery Date to accept the shipment. If the customer shall be unavailable to accept the shipment it is ultimately up to the carrier to determine if they should charge for the additional service that you are inquiring.

On our end, we have offered to provide reimbursement to the maximum amount that our company has allotted. The carrier has also offered a discount for the delayed delivery. At this time we will continue to request updates from the carrier regarding your re-delivery ETA. We will continue to vouch for you on your behalf and request for the carrier to remove the fee. Please keep in mind this is outside of our control but we will certainly continue to try. We ask that you reach out to our customer service department if you have any other concerns.

Long-distance move from East Lansing, MI to Nashville, TN

Do not book with them.

I had a reservation I made with you all weeks ago for a pickup scheduled on July 27-29. I had a confirmation email stating someone can come July 28 and they never showed up. I was assured I would be picked up on Monday morning. Monday morning comes and I hear nothing, then I call back that afternoon and I'm told they job can no longer be done. I had informed everyone from who booked my reservation to who was helping me that my closing date on my condo was Monday, July 29 and that would work. Sebastian was extremely friendly when initially booking, and then dismissive when I called with my concerns. Lilly the head of customer service was also dismissive and rude when I was calling in a frantic over their company not obligating their duties with me. I also never heard back from Ross who I spoke with who initially booked my reservation. They put me in an impossible situation the day of and communication was not clear on their end, I would avoid booking with them. I did not receive my refund from paying my deposit until September- and this is from me calling them every week to stay on top of it.

Official company response

Nataly,
We are pleased to hear from you whether your providing positive or negative feedback. It's been so long since you were a customer of ours.
As per the other reviews that you've left in the past on previous review sites we will continue to respond.
Unfortunately, your dispute is with the carrier company as they are the movers who were unable to arrive on your estimated pickup date. When dealing with long distance moving sometimes there are unforeseen circumstances that are beyond our control as we do not have control over the trucks or the routes the motor carrier takes. Luckily you've booked with our company who actually provides a refund of your deposit if we are unable to provide a motor carrier for you. Most moving brokerages will not allow you a refund of your reserved services.
We certainly do apologize for any inconvenience that you've experienced and are happy that you've received your refund!

Thanks for your thoughts on your experience! Best Regards.

Dishonest scammers.

I initially made contact with Chloe and provided her with accurate information for the size of my move. She provided me with a quote of $1805 and after several communications with her back and forth she assured me everything was accurate. I paid the agreed upon deposit. I advised her that I did not care when my stuff was picked up as long as I had it no later than November 2nd. She assured me that if it was picked up on October 25th, it would be delivered by November 2nd.
3 days before the movers were to arrive, I get a call by Sebastian to go over specifics (which I had already done with Chloe and she made no mention of Sebastian needing to contact me).
He clearly is the one to continue the scam. Chloe just starts it. He claimed my move now was going to cost $5600. I went rounds and rounds with him over this. They then also took an unauthorized second deposit from my account that I never signed. Total fraud.
October 25th the actual moving company shows up and has NO IDEA what is going on and is quoting me new prices and states they had no contact with Route 66 about price discussions.

I blew up at them several times because they kept denying any issues and assuring me they were all on the same page which was never the case. This circus was a classic case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.

Zero communications from the moving company who goes by 3 different names. They never call you back either. They kept my stuff in some random warehouse for 2.5 weeks before loading it onto a truck with other people's stuff. NONE of this process was ever explained to me because I would have never been ok with that and just moved it myself instead. When it finally does arrive on November 13th, the driver is some random guy who can't even speak English and communicate and he is paid under the table by the moving company. He is driving a 75foot truck without a CDL so therefore can not park the truck and instead pulls into a side street and dumps all of my stuff in an alley for ME to move myself. Many items missing and lots of things shattered and broken.

Absolutely unprofessional. These people are scammers and not trustworthy. They are dishonest and you will only be overpaying for your stuff to be stolen or broken. I will be filing complaints on both Route 66 and the moving company with several agencies.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $5600

Official company response

Annje,

We are displeased to hear your negative feedback however we have already discussed all your concerns with you personally that you've mentioned in this review. From our understanding, we were under the impression that everything has been taken care of.

Regarding your price increase, our company provides estimated prices based off an itemized inventory for which the customer informs us upon booking of what items need to be moved. We understand that between the time of booking and the day of the actual move many things might change. Most customers find themselves going through their household goods, packing, getting rid of unwanted items, selling items, or even realizing they have a lot more than what they've estimated. Therefore, we offer quality assurance services approximately 3-5 days prior to the pickup date in order to review the estimate again and make any necessary adjustments to the inventory. This review was done with our quality assurance manager and a man who you've indicated to be your husband. During the review, he added some items to the original estimate based off of 375 cf. After the additional items were added the new estimated cf came to approximately 1066 cf. For this reason, a binding estimate requires the additional cf to be charged for at the agreed upon rate which increased your estimated total price to approximately $5468.53 causing another payment to be made (which was included in the total estimated price) in order to accommodate to the adjustments. Your husband signed and agreed to the revised estimate and provided a payment authorization form for the 2nd payment. One day later, we received a threatening email from you stating you would not like to agree to these changes and would like to return to the original estimate. We advised you that if you were to return to the original estimate and tried to load the additional items upon pickup, your price would most likely increase due to the cf increasing. You then directed your husband to contact our quality assurance manager again and adjust the revised estimate once more. After the 2nd revised estimate your new estimated cf came to approximately 900cf for a total estimated price of $3571.10. Our company paid the additional payment in order to accommodate to your last minute changes. We informed you that we would be happy to refund the 2nd payment you've made or we could put the payment towards your remaining balance due. You decided to allow us to put the payment towards your remaining balance due.

Upon pickup, the carrier is required to provide you with a revised estimate if they feel the cf will be increasing. This is the reasoning for which you were provided with ANOTHER estimate when the movers arrived. As you've stated in your review, we tried to inform you once over the phone before pickup (when you were well within your cancellation window in order to receive a full refund) after your husband added multiple items to your inventory that we were estimating your price to come out to around the $5600 that you've mentioned. Turns out, we were pretty accurate considering you loaded the additional items that your husband added during the quality assurance review, then removed those items before pickup. The point we are trying to make, is that we are not a scam for trying to provide you with an honest price in the beginning. For example, if your going to tell us that you have 5 boxes to move, and the movers show up and you actually have 15 boxes..its going to cause a price increase.

The moving company we've recommended to you has an authorized legal name, and a DBA. They do not go by 3 different names as they are only "doing business as" 1 name which is very common in the moving industry. The delivery driver is simply only a long distance delivery driver who is on the road most of his life. I can assure you he would of had to have the necessary license in order to preform the delivery. The trailers they use for deliveries are only 53 ft. We unfortunately did not hear from you during the delivery as you did not mention any issues with the delivery company until now. From our years of experience, drivers do not just park in alley ways as most semi's can not fit within alley ways. It sounds to me that maybe a shuttle service was needed due to a 53 ft trailer not being able to fit within a reasonable distance of your destination. This is also disclosed in the estimate that you've elected with our company as well as the contract you entered with the carrier. Again, we did not hear of these issues at the time they were happening. Of course if we did we would have assisted you throughout the matter.

We ask that if you have any further questions, concerns or complaints to please reach out to our customer service department for assistance.

Best Regards.

Long-distance move from Orlando, FL to Trenton, NJ

Great service!

I was getting many phone calls from lots of movers and didn’t really know the difference since they all seemed the same. I spoke with Ross and he was very straight forward on what to expect and even though he told me all the additional fees that may come in to play I was very impressed because no one told me them. I rather pay the higher price and know what I am getting. Over all the move went fine, I knew what I was getting with Route 66 Relocation, they did their job in finding me a mover and getting the job done. Thank you so much guys!

Predatory Company, Stay Away.

DO NOT use this company. They are an absolute scam. They use aggressive sales and misleading quotes so you think their price is reasonable, and then once everything you own is in the truck the price more than doubles. They detail everything in your house over the phone so you feel they are really calculating the right amount of space for your move. But it’s not even half what is actually required. No one that is honest would give estimates that bad. And of course there is nothing you can do once they have all of your belongings in the moving van. This company is absolutely predatory and you should avoid them.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $9000

Official company response

Curtis,
I have read over your concerns and reviewed your file in our system. I can assure you, our company is not a scam as we completely abide by the DOT and FMCSA regulations. Based on your estimate we quoted you at 1800 cf for an estimated cost of $8084. It appears your estimated price only increased by $368.50. Based on our experience in the moving industry we have provided you with a VERY accurate estimate. Although, we did not hear from you when your motor carrier arrived at the pickup location. We stress to our customers to please contact us when the movers arrive if you have any questions or concerns before proceeding with the recommended movers. We did not receive a notice from you that you had any concerns. After the move was completed you reached out to our customer service department to inform us you had some damaged items. We then provided you with the motor carriers claim information so that you could receive reimbursement for said damages. Since then, we have not heard from you. We are saddened to hear the negative feedback as we try our best to provide the most honest and accurate quote based on the itemized inventory the services the customer informs us of. Please keep in mind, your estimate is exactly that, an estimated cost. If you should inquire additional services, those additional services your motor carrier may request additional payment for. We are very upfront about how the moving industry works when booking with our company. If we would have received a request for assistance from you at the time of your move, we could have contacted your mover, Triple Crown Moving, and assisted with any discrepancies you may have had.
Unfortunately, you have agreed to proceed with the recommended mover without reaching out for help from your brokerage. Please let us know if there is anything we can help you with.
Thank you.
